Adjustable compression and rebound, engineered in Sydney and set up for southern African touring weight. Dial it soft for the tar. Wind it up when the vehicle is loaded. The same kit, two different trucks.
Standard suspension is tuned for an empty bakkie on a test drive. Add a canopy, drawers, a fridge, 80 litres of water and long-range fuel and the geometry the factory signed off no longer exists.
The rear sits down. The front goes light. On corrugation the body floats and the tyres stop tracking. You feel it as fatigue long before you see it as a problem.
Nine settings across compression and rebound, adjusted at the shock with the supplied tool. No removal, no re-valving, no second kit for the daily drive.
Four routes, two vehicles, both loaded to touring weight. The write-ups and the settings we ran are in the journal.
1 200 km, 42°C, fully loaded 79 Series. Ran settings 6 and 7 on corrugation.
Loaded Hilux 2.8 GD-6, technical rock and water crossings. Settings 4 to 5.
Steep loose ascent, high-speed descent. Rebound control tested at settings 5 and 8.
Sustained sand and corrugation at touring weight. No measurable fade over 600 km.
